Performance of windshear/microburst detection algorithms using numerical weather prediction model data for selected tropical cyclone cases

چکیده
Three windshear/microburst detection algorithms are used operationally at the Hong Kong International Airport. Their performance is studied in present article by assuming availability of complete set meteorological data from numerical weather prediction model output. Only selected tropical cyclone cases considered. The evaluated using pilot reports windshear. It turns out that glide path scan windshear algorithm has best overall considering area under curve relative operating characteristic curves. This may be related to better geometry covering paths airport for this particular algorithm.
